According to Blockchain analysis, the Crypto portfolio associated with the non -existent obscure internet market Alphabay was supposedly behind the Bitcoin donation worth $ 31 million to the creator of Silk Road Ross Ulbricht.
Blockchain Analytics companies chainalysis told Wired on June 5 report that he tied 300 Bitcoin (BTC) transferred Ulbrich at the beginning of this month to Alphabay, the predecessor of Silk Road, which operated in 2014-2017.
Chainalysis suggested that the funds came from the main supplier of the platform who would have access to such significant amounts.
“We have reasonable grounds to suspect that these funds were created in Alfabaj,” said Phil Larratt, director of investigators. “Looking at the amount that suggests that he comes from someone who was probably the Alphabay seller at the beginning.”
The independent blockchain Sleuth Zachxbt confirmed that 300 Bitcoin does not come from Silk Road and noticed suspicious patterns in how the donors transferred the funds.
They used many mixing services to darken the transaction trail and pay other cryptocurrencies in petite amounts to avoid detection, which suggested a criminal indication.
Zachxbt he said WX seems to be a donation from the “sketchy centralized mixing service”, called Jambler, while normal privacy enthusiasts employ decentralized mixers, such as Wasabi and non -existent Samourai.

The analysis suggested that the money was a “justified donation, but not justified funds,” said Zachxbt.
“The employ of many mixers by spreading the CEX [centralized exchange] Deposits, etc., it is usually done if you try to avoid illegal frozen means – he said.
Alphabay stop on BTC links
Chainization was played key in identifying Bitcoin addresses related to alphabians, which played a key role in Destruction Darknet market in an investigation known as “Bayonet operation”, which lasted 2016 and 2017.
From that time, each BTC would be appreciated, potentially over 40 times, but the identity of the donor and their motivation remain unknown.
In January, US President Donald Trump fully pardoned Ross Ulbricht, who was in prison for 12 years, taking a double life sentence plus 40 years for running a silk road.
