The fresh DePIN brings ZK-compliant processing to its market

Zero-knowledge-resistant (ZK-resistant) coprocessor Brevis has launched its marketplace, allowing users to make money by computing ZK proofs.

According to Monday’s Brevis announcementThe decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) “ProverNet” enables applications to access ZK-compliant proof capabilities and enables compute service providers to make money by computing proofs. Currently, the network uses Circle’s stablecoin USDC (USDC) as its native settlement currency.

Despite this, Brevis plans to switch to the BREV token, which is yet to be launched once ProverNet comes out of beta and launches the mainnet. On the main network, the system will also do this to introduce evidence of you hitting and slashing for “misbehavior or failure to meet deadlines.”

Currently, ProverNet allows you to prove the division of tasks through continuous auction, settlement of USDC payments and commander registration and job matching. Presenters can now register and start competing for jobs, and applications can also submit review requests directly to the network.

This is not fresh to the game

Calculating ZK proofs is computationally intensive, which means it is often impractical for developers or users to calculate them themselves. This is especially true when enormous amounts of evidence are needed, as seen in some projects.

Brevis has long offered ZK-resistant processing as a solution for the industry. The company announced in overdue 2023 that it would maintained Uniswap v4 hooks to reliably read and calculate the transaction history of liquidity providers and traders.

In October, Uniswap, a decentralized cryptocurrency exchange, introduced a routing rebate program based on its technology, announcing that Brevis received a grant for its development. Earlier this year, Brevis did the same exposed “a partnership between MetaMask, Linea and Brevis to provide MetaMask card users with ZK Proof-based rewards.”

PancakeSwap too integrates Brevis infrastructure for ZK-resistant processing. After Binance in 2024 investmentthat was it too used to power trustless crosschain infrastructure on the BNB chain.

Brevis claims to have processed more than 250 million proofs across more than 30 partners. The organization explained that it learned that ZK-tolerant workloads are highly variable, which led to the development of ProverNet to provide sufficient flexibility:

“From now on, applications gain access to specialized performance without vendor lock-in, while validators can now find workloads tailored to their hardware. The ecosystem receives shared infrastructure instead of fragmented silos,” it said.

DePIN usable from day one

In its announcement, Brevis also notes that it is already “gradually migrating” production workloads to ProverNet. For now, the service transfers “a subset of Ethereum block executions validated against ETHProofs.”

ETHPoofs is a publicly available service used to generate ZK proofs of execution of Ethereum blocks – checking what specific blocks contain. This enables, among other things, crosschain verification for minimum trust bridging.
