Solana Seeker phone users will be able to apply for the SKR token on January 21

Solana Mobile announced that its long-awaited SKR token will launch on January 21, and Solana Seeker smartphone users will be able to earn up to 20% of the token via airdrop.

Solana he said on Wednesday SKR will go live on January 21 at 2:00 a.m. UTC, allowing users to delegate their tokens to “Guardians” who will secure the Solana network while verifying devices and managing the decentralized app store.

Users will receive rewards in return for delegating tokens and will also have access to various exclusive features within the app.

“SKR will give everyone who has brought us to this point the opportunity to influence the success of this platform: who can participate, what rules it follows and what economic flows keep it running” – Emmett Hollyer, CEO of Solana Mobile he said. “This airdrop is the first step.”

The Seeker is Solana Mobile’s second blockchain-powered phone that aims to bring decentralized applications, payments, and token ownership directly to users.

Solana Mobile ended software and security support for its first phone, the Saga, in October, following the launch of Seeker in August.

Solana Seeker appears to have been more successful, processing 9 million transactions and generating $2.6 billion in trading volume across 265 decentralized applications from over 100,000 users.

Solana Mobile wants to disrupt the mobile app duopoly dominated by Apple and Google, two platforms that Hollyer claims severely limit user choice and developer freedom.

57% of SKR will be distributed on day one

According to on the Solana Mobile website, 30% of the drops will be unlocked at launch, with two-thirds of the drops allocated to Solana Seeker users and developers.

Additionally, 2.7 billion SKR, or 27% of the total supply of 10 billion, will be unlocked during the token generation event.

Of this amount, 1 billion tokens are earmarked for community treasury, another 1 billion for liquidity, and 700 million for development and partnerships.

The Solana Mobile and Solana Labs teams were allocated 15% and 10% of SKR tokens, respectively.

Guardians will be featured at the SKR token launch, with infrastructure platforms Solana Anza, DoubleZero, Helius and Jito among the Guardians that will lend a hand lead the development of Solana Seeker.
