Bitcoin creator Peter Todd fears harassment and goes into hiding after HBO documentary

A former Bitcoin programmer has denied allegations that he is the real Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, after an HBO documentary named him as Bitcoin Master.

Peter Todd, who claimed the document falsely identifies him as Satoshi, believes there is no point in knowing who the founder of Bitcoin is, given that Bitcoin has thrived despite the true identity of the founderwhich remains shrouded in mystery.

“False Claim”

Todd criticized the documentary’s creator for accusing him of being Satoshi, saying that he is false claim.

He lamented that the film put him in the public spotlight, despite his continued denial that he was the founder of Bitcoin.

According to Todd, the HBO director used Satoshi’s accusation to promote his documentary, claiming that the director needed “a way to attract attention for his film.”

Todd slammed the film’s director for exaggerating evidence and stirring up a conspiracy about Bitcoin’s founder. He explained that he could never be Satoshi because he was busy with school and work in the early days of Bitcoin.

Moreover, Todd claimed to have no knowledge of the subject documentary in development, adding that he learned of its content only after it had been broadcast.

Documentary about Bitcoin

On October 8, HBO broadcast a documentary that was supposed to unmask the true identity of Satoshi, the creator of Bitcoin, who had eluded everyone for so many years.

The documentary titled “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery” showed the results of a three-year investigation led by director Cullen Hoback. The film’s director claimed that he managed to discover Satoshi’s identity.

The documentary presented evidence that pointed to Todd as the elusive founder of the popular cryptocurrency. An allegation that Todd continues to deny, claiming that it was misrepresented in the film.

Todd goes into hiding

After the two-hour documentary aired, Todd decided to go into hiding, fearing that the film would threaten his personal safety.

In an interview, he said he received a lot of emails from some people asking him for money. He added that there was even a person who sent him 25 e-mails asking for facilitate in repaying the loan.

Todd now understands why the real Satoshi wants to remain anonymous, considering the amount of harassment the Bitcoin creator will experience.

The search continues

Since Todd has unmasked the fact that he is the founder of Bitcoin, the search for Satoshi’s identity will continue and will continue to be the subject of speculation.

Over the years, many people have been identified as the creators of Bitcoin, which has exposed them to the public eye, usually leading to undesirable consequences such as interference in their private lives.
