The cryptocurrency miner diversified the energy quietly left the place of extraction of cryptocurrency supply with natural gas in Elk, Pennsylvania, apparently leaving disconnected boreholes and regulatory violations.
The site, known as Longhorn Pad a, was revived in 2022 after almost a decade of sleep, when diversified began to apply it to drive generators at the power supply site with cryptocurrency mining computers, in accordance with A report by Erie Times-News.
According to the report, the operation was launched without obtaining air quality permission from the Pennsylvania Environmental Protection Department (DEP).
Although the company later received a permit in December 2023, the inspection of March 2025 revealed that the diverse had already removed mining infrastructure.
Empty metal sheds and missing production equipment led the DEP to a formal notification of violation in order to abandon the well. The diverse reportedly denied that the site was abandoned, saying that it could resume gas production.
However, DEP and environmental supporters say that the company has not fulfilled its obligations. Pursuant to the agreement in 2021, the diverse undertook to connect Longhorn A and 13 other wells at the end of the operational life, a commitment that he apparently did not fulfill.

In January, the legislators from Arkansas introduced a bill that would prohibit surgery to extract cryptocurrencies within a radius of 30 miles from each American military plant in the state.
The opposition to cryptocurrency miners in Arkansas is consistent with a broader trend in the US communes, in which cryptocurrency initiatives stood in the face of growing control.
In October 2024, a group of residents of Granbura in Texas filed a lawsuit against Marathon Digital, claiming that his mining plant generated too much noise.
