Economist and author of The Bitcoin Standard, Saifedean Ammous, considered the ongoing debate about spam inscriptions on the Bitcoin network, suggesting that “he would throw a few sat” to finance a full -time programmer focused on impeding bitcoin spaming.
Ammous gave comments in response to the thread initiated by the nickname programmer Grassfedbitcoin, who called Bitcoin Core to merge the Pull #28408 request, which would enable easier inscriptions filtering.
According to GrassfedbitCoin, the lack of tools for filtering inscription contributes to unnecessary bloating blockchain and undermines the role of Bitcoin (BTC) as a cash protocol.

Ammous compares Bitcoin spam to e -mail
Ammious compared the Bitcoin spam problem with -mail spam – other arms racing society is still fighting without abandoning the system.
“It is not effortless, but it’s worth trying to go bankrupt spammers faster,” said Ammous. He argued that the fight against spam is not censorship, noting that node operators are already rejecting incorrect transactions.
“So the node runner who wants to remove delayed spam is no less critical than delayed spam,” he added.
The debate attracted a commentary on other users. One of the participants suggested that the main programmers treat employees encoding spam in some startups as “reluctant QA engineers” and simply undeveloping every trick they implement.
Ammous moved on, proposing to “depreciate” the work of programmers building spam tools and even employ external encoders in order to overwhelm their systems.
The conversation reflects constant tensions in the Bitcoin community during the intended use of the network. Since the inscriptions are still converting the network, it calls for technical remedies – and pointed criticism of people defending spam – they are becoming louder.
In the report of February 4, Mempool Research stated that the adoption of the inscription can increase the average size of the Bitcoin network block as high as 4 megabytes (MB) per block, much higher than current average.
The average size of Bitcoin block – the amount of data in each block published in the Public Book of the Network – is currently about 1.5 MB.
