During the meeting between Bukele and Milei, topics such as energy, trade and security were officially discussed, but there was no press conference or official statement. The meeting between Vice President Villarruel and President Bukele went beyond general diplomacy, focusing intensely on BTC and its integration into national financial systems.

“I really wanted to take advantage of these short minutes to talk to you about Bitcoin because it is something that I am very interested in and also about the Volcano Bonds project,” Vice President Villarruela can be heard saying in a miniature video that appeared on X. President Bukele responded expressed enthusiasm: “We are happy to talk about Bitcoin and everything related to it.”

The talks also touched on the operational and regulatory framework necessary for crypto assets. Villarruel expressed deep interest in the role of CNAD and its regulatory achievements. “You have the first control body of the National Commission, I am also interested in this, because I know that it is the first control body established for this purpose,” she noted during her meeting with the President of El Salvador, Bukele.

This sentiment was later repeated on her social media, where she demonstrated a willingness to further understand El Salvador’s strategy for regulating Bitcoin and crypto assets. Villarruel wrote via X: “Visit of the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, to the Senate of the Argentine Nation. We were able to talk about the implementation of Bitcoin, the creation of CNAD (National Commission for Digital Assets), which is the first organization to provide the legal framework and regulation for crypto assets.”

In May this year, a delegation that included Argentine Security Minister Patricia Bullrich and leaders of the Argentine National Securities Commission (CNV) visited El Salvador. They met with Juan Carlos Reyes, president of El Salvador’s National Commission for Digital Assets (CNAD), to discuss the nuances of digital asset management at the national level.

“We want to strengthen ties with the Republic of El Salvador and therefore we intend to explore the possibility of signing cooperation agreements with it,” commented Roberto E. Silva, president of CNV, during these talks.

At the time of publication, the price of BTC was $61,618.
