Former US President Donald Trump has been confirmed as a keynote speaker at the upcoming Bitcoin 2024 conference. Scheduled for July 25-27 in Nashville, Tennessee, the news was reported by Bitcoin Magazine, organizers of what is billed as the world’s largest Bitcoin conference.
Trump to Give Speech at Bitcoin 2024
Organizers said in an email Wednesday at noon that several speeches on the program had been rescheduled because of a modern “very special guest.” Trump’s 30-minute speech is scheduled for the final day of the conference (July 27) at 2 p.m. Central Time. In a press release releaseBitcoin Magazine stated, “President Donald Trump has been officially announced as the speaker for the Bitcoin 2024 Conference. The announcement marks a significant milestone for the event, which has earned a reputation as a historic source of news and important industry announcements.”
Over the years, the conference has been the platform for vital declarations, such as Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele’s 2021 announcement to make BTC legal tender. The tradition of significant moments continued with U.S. presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who strongly endorsed the industry at the 2023 conference.
This year’s conference, which will take place from Miami to Nashville, will feature two US presidential candidates, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Donald Trump, and is expected to potentially influence future BTC and cryptocurrency policy in the United States.
The inclusion of Donald Trump as a speaker is particularly noteworthy given his recent engagement and commitments to the BTC community. In recent months, Trump has significantly shifted his stance on cryptocurrencies, adopting a pro-Bitcoin agenda.
Last month, he met with major U.S. miners, where he pledged his support for mining “all remaining” BTC in the U.S. He also pledged, “I will ensure that the future of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies is made in the U.S.,” pledging to uphold self-care rights for the country’s estimated 50 million cryptocurrency holders if elected president.
Industry Reactions
The industry reaction was a mix of expectation and skepticism. David Bailey, CEO of Bitcoin Magazine, he stated through X, “On July 27 we are changing the course of history.”
Ki Youthful Ju, CEO of CryptoQuant, a leading provider of on-chain and market data analytics, also spoke out on the X comment and skeptically questioned the motives behind Trump’s speech: “Is this a vote-getting strategy or a genuine attempt to make the United States a #Bitcoin nation? Does anyone know?”
Gabor Gurbacs, founder of PointsVille and strategist at Tether, only if a more politically charged reaction: “If Trump wins the election, America will grow two big orange balls. It’s time for America to get its balls back.”
Matthew Pines, Director of Sentinel One, he emphasized the potential broader implications of a Trump administration for global markets: “I don’t think most ‘serious’ macro analysts have paid enough attention to how crazy a Trump administration would be for Bitcoin and the cascading geopolitical and monetary impacts that would accompany it.”
Zack Guzmán, award-winning journalist, concisely he summed up high stakes and significant promises related to Trump’s participation: “CONFIRMED: Trump to speak at largest Bitcoin conference in Nashville – Expected to triple efforts to free Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht – Expected to (re)commit to banning US CBDCs – Expected to (re)affirm US self-storage and mining rights. HUGE.”
At the time of going to press, the BTC price was $57,900.
